Christina moved to rural Alberta from Vancouver Island in 2012. She has two degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Victoria, specializing in inertial systems/instrumentation, robotics, computer modeling, analysis, and design.
After a stint as a test engineer for implantable electronics, she decided to move closer to her passions and bridged over to sustainable technologies - diving into solar thermal systems, passive solar, and thermal mass storage systems. She went hunting for those who used the systems and introduced herself, checking to see if they were "all that". They were.
She met some awesome people doing awesome things and learned more about alternative/sustainable/regenerative building and energy systems. She started doing grant funded research and writing on said systems.
Fast-forward to today and you'll note she now has her Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) from Verge Permaculture, a Professional Writing Certificate from the University of Calgary, and is now living on 40 acres outside the city.
You'll often find her writing technical documentation and doing research (including Mars Demonstration Site Projects for NASA), designing sustainable energy systems and structures, headed off to various interesting places to meet various interesting people, or just hanging out in her hemp field/garden.
Goodvin Designs is built on a personal philosophy of sustainability, responsible living and innovation, and building on what exists without unnecessary reinvention of wheels.
Practical, efficient, sustainable, sensible.
